A lower-risk path to GitHub, without losing control

Many organisations want to move repositories and development workflows to GitHub but are unsure how to approach the migration. Unclear migration paths, limited internal expertise and concerns around security and governance often slow progress and increase the risk of disruption.

The GitHub Migration Accelerator establishes a secure GitHub foundation before repositories, workflows and CI/CD pipelines are migrated in controlled phases. Each stage is technically validated, giving your teams a production-ready environment without forcing a big-bang migration.

Where a full migration is not required, backlog management can remain in Azure DevOps Boards while repositories and other development workflows move to GitHub.

GitHub Migration

Migrate with minimal disruption

Move from Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, GitLab or hybrid environments through a phased and validated migration approach. With hands-on support, the transition remains predictable, with minimal disruption and no rework. Repositories and CI/CD pipelines are migrated and technically validated within GitHub.

GitHub Platform Foundation

Build a secure GitHub foundation

Start with a production-capable GitHub platform configured with SSO, role-based access control (RBAC), repository standards, branch protection and governance controls that support secure and consistent development.

DevSecOps Enterprise Security

Embed DevSecOps into your development lifecycle

Introduce GitHub Advanced Security capabilities such as code scanning, secret scanning and dependency alerts, bringing security into everyday development from the start.

How the GitHub Migration works

Delivered as a full multi-module engagement, this structured three-phase execution model ensures alignment, predictable delivery, and a clear handover:

intercept number 1  Discover & Plan

The current development environment, existing platforms, workflows and DevSecOps maturity are assessed to define the migration approach. This includes identifying workloads in scope, defining success criteria, selecting pilot teams, and aligning on governance and platform requirements.

intercept nummer 2  Implement & Migrate

During this phase, the GitHub platform foundation is configured, DevSecOps capabilities are implemented, and repositories and CI/CD pipelines are migrated in controlled phases. By migrating incrementally, we ensure a controlled rollout and validation at each step.

Intercept nummer 3  Validate & Handover

The final phase validates the implemented platform and migrated workloads against the agreed success criteria. This includes technical validation to confirm that repositories and pipelines function within GitHub. Documentation is delivered, knowledge transfer sessions are conducted, and the GitHub platform is formally handed over.
