CSP Migration

Questions & Answers

Below is the FAQ for the CSP Direct to Indirect migration, which is part of a partnership between Intercept and TD SYNNEX. This transition will enhance the service and support you receive, and outlines what to expect as your Microsoft licensing, Azure subscriptions, and Marketplace offerings move from a Tier 1 CSP model (Intercept direct) to a Tier 2 CSP model (Intercept via TD SYNNEX).

You will find answers to common questions about the migration process, partner roles, support, and what actions may be required from you.

Question: What is the transition?
Answer: We are moving from a Tier 1 CSP model (Intercept direct) to a Tier 2 CSP model (Intercept via TD SYNNEX).

In this new model, TD SYNNEX will work in partnership with Intercept to deliver your cloud services and provide enhanced support capabilities, including the ability to raise Microsoft support tickets on your behalf.

Question: Will there be changes to my commercial agreements with Intercept (discounts, etc).
Answer: Your current agreement on discounts will not change. You will receive the same discounts as before.

Question: Will there be any changes in the invoices I receive?
Answer: In the month of the transfer of your subscriptions you will have double invoice lines where one line is the period until when the subscriptions are with Intercept directly and a line from the moment the transfer was done. In the months after the invoice will be the same as normal.

You might experience a delayed invoice of a few days. We tent to invoice you between the 6th and 10th of every month. As your payment terms stay the same, this might even result in extra credit.

Question: Will there be any changes in the customer portal?
Answer:

  • Customer Insights & Reservation insights
    • For the first 3 weeks of October Customer Insights (detailed consumption) & Reservations insights won’t be available
  • Self-service Licenses and Azure Subscription management
    • From the moment of migration till end of November/beginning of December it won’t be possible to maintain License and Azure subscription management via the customer portal. In case of any changes or additions a ticket needs to be created via TOPdesk.

Question: As a customer, what do I need to do?
Answer: You have received an e-mail from us which outlines the process. In summary:

  • Respond to the e-mail to approve the transfer
  • Accept a reseller relationship invitation from TD SYNNEX.
  • Accept the Microsoft Customer Agreement (MCA) if not already done.

Intercept will perform the actual transfer.

Question: What happens to my Azure Cost Management data after Intercept transitions from CSP Tier 1 to CSP Tier 2?
Answer: Due to our transition from a CSP Tier 1 to a CSP Tier 2 model, your Azure subscription will be moved to a new billing provider. As a result, Azure Cost Management (ACM) will no longer display historical cost data from the previous billing relationship.

While ACM will continue to provide cost insights moving forward, any reports or dashboards you’ve built using ACM will not include data from before the transition.

Question: What is a subscription transfer?
Answer: A subscription transfer in Microsoft Cloud Solution Provider (CSP) involves moving existing subscriptions, such as Microsoft 365 or Azure Plans, from one partner to another. This is an administrative process. There are no changes done to Azure Infrastructure or productivity suites such as Microsoft 365.

Question: What data is shared with TD SYNNEX?
Answer: Billing information such as Azure Usage, Microsoft 365 license usage and contact details of the customer as currently available in Partner Center.

Question: Will my services or subscriptions be interrupted?
Answer: No, your existing services and subscriptions will continue. The transition is designed to be seamless.

Question: Who do I contact for support after the transition?
Answer: Your current primary partner (Intercept) remains your main point of contact.

Question: How do I know the transition is complete?
Answer: You will receive notifications and may see both your partner and the indirect provider listed in your Microsoft account.

Question: What if I have concerns or questions about the transition?
Answer: Contact us with any questions regarding the transition.

Question: Why Are There Two Foreign Principals (Partner Records) in my Tenant?
Answer: When transitioning from CSP Direct to CSP Indirect, your Microsoft tenant will show two partner records (foreign principals) in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center under Partner Relationships:

  • Direct CSP Partner: Remains if you have active subscriptions or relationships managed by your original direct partner.
  • Indirect Provider: Created when you accept a reseller relationship invitation from the indirect provider.

Foreign principals allow partners to:

  • Manage your subscriptions, licenses, and users on your behalf.
  • Submit orders, provide support, and handle billing (as permitted by their relationship type).

Having both records ensures a smooth transition with no interruption to your services. Both partners can fulfill their roles until all subscriptions and relationships are fully transferred. Once the transition is complete, the direct CSP partner’s record may be removed if no longer needed.

Question:  What is GDAP and What Changes Should I Expect
Answer: Granular Delegated Admin Privileges (GDAP) allow partners to manage your Microsoft environment with only the permissions needed for support and administration. As part of the move to Tier 2 CSP (Intercept via TD SYNNEX), both Intercept and TD SYNNEX will have GDAP access to your tenant.

GDAP Packages

  • Minimal GDAP: For CSP-only customers (no support plan with Intercept but just discount on Azure billing). Provides essential access for licensing, support tickets, and basic troubleshooting. Roles include:

  • Recommended GDAP: For customers using Intercept for managed services, security, or ongoing support. Includes advanced roles for broader management and faster support:

Question: Why are these changes needed?
Answer: Moving to the Tier 2 CSP model with TD SYNNEX allows us to provide faster, more efficient support and give you access to enhanced services. By assigning the appropriate GDAP level for your customer type — Minimal GDAP for CSP-only customers, and Recommended GDAP for customers who work with Intercept for CSP support, managed services, or security projects—we help keep your environment secure while enabling Intercept to resolve issues more quickly.

Customers on the Recommended GDAP package also benefit from the ability to activate new features and improvements as soon as they are available, without unnecessary delays.
